Vintage and Heirloom Gown Reconstruction

An enjoyable process awaits you! What fun this can be!

We understand how much care, and sentiment is behind every vintage gown that we see.  This is not just about wearing an heirloom, it is often about maintaining, or creating a tradition. We get to modernize a gown, while preserving its original integrity and history.  Sara (our founder), deeply enjoys working on vintage reconstructions. Although this can save you the expense of purchasing a gown, please note that vintage reconstructions often will fall/start on the higher end of our bridal alterations cost range. The process of working on vintage garments can be much more intricate, and time intensive than working on a new gown.

We highly recommend you come in for a consultation (please see our pricing section) as early as possible  so that we can discuss your options, and you can reassure yourself on whether or not this is really what you want to do. This process is not for the faint of heart, you will be taking a leap of faith so to speak, but it can be very rewarding at the end.

Vintage Accessory, or Smaller Vintage Alterations

If reworking a vintage gown is not exactly what you are looking for, but you would love to somehow integrate an heirloom into your special day, feel free to bring the vintage gown, veil, or accessories along with you.  We are often able to rework a vintage veil to be more contemporary, or are able to somehow incorporate a piece of an heirloom into your look/gown.

If you don’t necessarily want to wear your heirloom on your wedding day, but instead just want to wear it for a photo op/rehearsal dinner/etc., we can try to keep alterations simpler, and not go through a full transformation.  This will allow you to still wear the gown, but not spend as much to alter it.
